Section 5.0 — Equipment Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Cleaning equipment, when working and used correctly, will produce a superior and more productive outcome.
The following information is a guide to the correct care of machinery and is designed to assist cleaners in minimising the occurrence of machinery failures.
Scrubbing Machines
Prior to use:
-
Disengage the charger.
-
Fill your machine with fresh water and dilute the recommended amount of chemical to your clean water tank.
(Refer to the cleaning schedule for chemical dilution and use.)
-
Attach the pad holder/s to the machine by hand and attach clean serviceable scrubbing pad/s.
(Never lower the drive head and rattle the pad holders on — this will cause damage and will be deemed misuse.)
-
Ensure the cap on the drain hose is affixed correctly. (If not affixed, suction will be greatly decreased.)
-
Attach the clean squeegee assembly.
Your machine is now ready for use.
⚠️ Do not allow the dirty water tank to overfill — this will damage the vacuum motor and result in lack of suction or motor failure.
⚠️ Do not tamper with or remove the float in the dirty water tank.
⚠️ Make sure the dirty water tank is emptied at regular intervals.
After use:
-
Empty the dirty water tank and flush the tank. (Dirty water leads to insect infestation.)
-
Remove the squeegee and rinse all channels out.
-
Remove pad holder/s and pad/s and rinse.
-
Rinse the underside of the pad driver deck.
-
Lift the tank and place the machine on charge.
⚠️ Charger must not be switched on until the Anderson plug is attached.
⚠️ It is recommended that batteries be allowed to breathe — leave the dirty water tank raised if possible.
Buffing Machines
Prior to use:
-
Check a clean serviceable pad is fitted.
-
To replace the pad: -
Release handle locking lever.
-
Move handle to upright position.
-
Tilt machine up/back safely on rear rest.
-
Compress centre of pad to ensure clip fits snug.
-
Ensure pad clip locks on the second click. (Failure may result in injury or floor damage.)

-
-
Lower machine to operational position.
-
Affix gas bottle correctly to gas hose. -
Tighten connection and check for leaks using soapy water.

-
-
Check oil level. (Low oil may prevent starting.)
-
Turn gas on slowly.
-
Set accelerator lever to start, depress start button.
-
If fails to start: -
Check gas is on.
-
Check oil levels.
-
If safety valve shut off — turn gas off, release pressure, reattach hose, slowly turn gas on.

-
After use:
-
Turn gas valve off.
-
Dust down machine. (Failure to keep clean may result in operational issues or fire.)
-
Remove buffing pad, rinse in warm water, dry, and replace with clean dry pad.
-
Store hot buffer away from chemicals and flammable materials.
Swing / Inline Buffers
Prior to use:
-
Check electrical lead and test/tag date. (Report damage immediately.)
-
Affix pad holder and buffing pad/brush.
-
Plug in and switch on.
After use:
-
Switch off machine and wall socket.
-
Roll up cord.
-
Remove pad/brush and clean.
-
Dust down machine. (Never use running water on electrical equipment.)
-
Store neatly in designated area.
Vacuum Cleaners
Prior to use:
-
Check lead and test/tag date. (Report damage immediately.)
-
Ensure dust bag is empty.
-
Check hose fittings and floor tool for damage.
-
Plug in and switch on.
After use:
-
Turn off machine before unplugging.
-
Empty dust bag.
-
Roll up cord.
-
Store away from water with cord safely stored.
Fringe Mops
-
Clean off at end of shift.
-
Wash at regular intervals.
Mops & Buckets
-
Clean/rinse before and after use.
-
Leave mops to dry — do not leave in dirty water.
